- How the driving school exam works Theory
- Practice
An exam in a driving school is a kind of training for a cadet before the main exam in the traffic police. Here he will have to overcome his anxiety and demonstrate the acquired knowledge and skills in front of the staff of the educational institution. And the administration of the driving school must make sure that the student is ready to pass the traffic police exam.

After all, even if sedatives help you at the first stage of the exam, then at the second and third stages you will need maximum concentration plus a good reaction. But if you take any sedative medications, problems may arise with this.
It will be better this way. Otherwise, many are already starting to learn before the first attempt how to pass the traffic police exam the second time. Well, first of all, a few words about theory. In order to cope with this stage, it is enough to read the book of traffic rules several times and sort out tickets. Preferably everything. There are 40 of them, each with 20 questions.

How is the exam done at a driving school?
There are no general federal requirements for conducting an internal examination. Often it is carried out according to the internal regulations of the driving school itself.
The internal exam scheme is similar to the traffic police exam. First, the cadet performs a theory knowledge test. Then he shows his driving skills on the race track. Then he leaves for the city.
The theoretical knowledge and practical training of the student are assessed by the director of the driving school, who will be replaced by a traffic police instructor at the external exam.

Theory
Typically, to pass the internal theory exam, you need to solve 3 to 5 tickets, each containing 20 questions. That is, the total number of questions can be about one hundred. In this case, only 1 error is allowed.
The examiner may ask the cadet to complete an additional task, for example: explain in writing the meaning of markings and signs, talk about the design of the vehicle, or answer additional questions on medicine.

Practice
It is divided into two stages: performing elements on the racetrack and demonstrating driving skills in urban conditions.
At the race track, the cadet must demonstrate successful completion of all exercises, namely:
- Check into the garage. Passing this standard involves entering a certain limited space that simulates a parking space or garage. Successful execution is counted if the car is standing inside a limited space and no part of it protrudes beyond its limits.
- Parallel parking, or “mother-in-law’s pocket.” It is necessary to drive in reverse into a certain space marked with chips or flags. Simulates parking between two cars. Ideal execution implies the location of the car within the boundaries of the marked space, while not a single part of it should protrude beyond the designated boundaries.
- Snake. The exercise teaches you to feel the dimensions of the car. It is necessary to drive around all the signs (cones, flags) without dropping any, and not to go beyond the structure. You seem to be moving along a corridor, quickly turning the steering wheel from the extreme left to the extreme right.
- Turning around in a confined space. To perform this figure, you need to perform a 180 degree turn in the marked space. This is a kind of imitation of a U-turn in a yard full of cars. A useful skill that will certainly come in handy in the future.
- Overpass . The exercise simulates the start of a car moving at an angle. This is a very useful skill when driving in the city. A car drives uphill onto an overpass and stops at an angle. Then you need to put the car on the handbrake. Then you need to move off without rolling back and completely drive over the overpass, sliding down from it.
After passing the circuit, the cadet goes to the city with an instructor. This is an imitation of the final part of passing to the traffic police - going into the city with a traffic police inspector. After passing this stage of the internal exam, a final decision is made on whether the cadet will be admitted or not admitted to the state exam at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
The internal examination is usually formal in nature. Almost all students are allowed to take the external exam at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
If, nevertheless, the cadet is not allowed to take the exam, you can take a document confirming completion of training from the driving school and try to pass the exam at the traffic police privately. In this case, you will not be tied to a group from a driving school.

Please, when you receive your license, do not forget to return to the site and share your experience. I think that the next point depends mainly on the traffic police, but still: if you passed the theory today, then you cannot go to take the test. Although it seems that an agreement can be reached, no one said anything about it. We took the standard course, hours of driving were enough. The instructor is great - he put in his maximum effort. Starting from the site, hardcore begins: you arrive at 8. But you’re just not so lucky: to pass the site I was 42 only 50 for the site, I passed somewhere in Passed on the first try, on the site the main thing is not to worry too much and not to push yourself, but just do everything as taught. The city was rented out 4 times. The inspector did not agree with me

Then it will be possible to constructively explain any of your actions while driving. Many traffic police officers positively evaluate the convincing arguments of the applicant for obtaining a license, so if you are sure that you are right, politely explain this to the inspector. In theory, everything is simple, there is nothing special to write about - study at a driving school, pass exams at the traffic police, get a certificate - it would seem, what pitfalls could there be?
How to pass the exam at a driving school
Let's talk about what you need to pay attention to in order to pass the internal exam at a driving school.
Evgeny Loginov, head of the car selection company “My Expert”:
“These mistakes are banal and simple... Often it is inattention. It happens that students simply do not learn the theory and pass it at random. This is bad, because even if you don’t know, you can memorize this little book of 30 pages and answer with knowledge! Then the journey will be easier, and there will be no fear for the passengers.”
Pay special attention to the elements that are difficult for you on the race track and in the theoretical part. The internal exam is usually more difficult to pass than the external one. This was done intentionally so that the student could easily answer 20 questions at the state exam and confidently drive around the city, having previously passed the race track.

The theoretical part of the exam is a test consisting of multiple-choice questions. A certain number of examinees are allowed into the examination room, depending on the number of computers in it.
All this means that such a management style can easily lead to an accident in the city, and the examiner will even try to prevent such a candidate from entering the third stage of the knowledge test! It is quite possible that the inspector will use all his nagging and tricks during the exam, so much so that you will not be able to pass the exam in any case.

Is it possible to take exams at another driving school?
It happens that a driving school does not suit a cadet. You are taught poorly, your hours are not rolled back, you are not allowed to take classes in the city for a long time, you have not personally gotten along with the driving instructor, and the administration does not take any steps. And the time to pass the internal exam is getting closer and closer. And you understand that you will not pass the internal exam. What to do in such a situation? Is it possible to take the internal exam at another driving school? Unfortunately no.
If you are trained in one driving school, you cannot take the internal exam in another. The only thing that can be done in such a situation is to pick up the documents and go to study again at another driving school and take the internal exam there.

How does the internal exam work?
Each school has the right to establish its own examination procedure, so it may differ from the one below. However, most often, to obtain a certificate of completion of a driving school, students only need to pass the theory on tickets similar to those used in the real exam. The questions are known and freely available.
IMPORTANT !!! After completing the training course, the entire group comes to an exam, which is taken in written form. The purpose of the exam is to test your ability to solve theoretical problems with a minimum number of errors. Very often, 5 tickets are given for the exam, which must be solved with no more than 1 error in each. Although in a real exam the number of tickets is smaller, and as many as 2 mistakes can be made. Such strict requirements are established with the goal of maximum readiness for passing.
Naturally, not everyone passes the test the first time, so if they fail, they go to retake it with another group. Retakes are usually held every week, so you won't have to wait long. It is understood that the student must independently prepare and take the exam, since without this he will not be able to pass further. After a successful attempt, a certificate of completion of the driving school is issued, with which you can be sent to official exams at the traffic police.
In some schools, the practice of internal practical examination is found. Today this happens quite rarely. Usually, preparation and delivery is considered to be the minimum number of hours worked. Many driving schools give their students more hours than required by law, which has a positive effect on learning and acquired skills.
Driving school exam deadlines
Exams usually last about two days. That is, the first exam in a driving school is theory, and the next day - the race track and the city.
If you fail, you can try again in 1-2 days. If you successfully passed the theory, but failed the stage, you only retake the circuit.
Typically, the internal exam is scheduled for the morning and takes place on average before lunch. The number of retakes is not limited, but you must pass the internal exam within three years. Otherwise, you will need to complete the training again.

Rules for retaking the exam in the traffic police
In order to get behind the wheel of a vehicle, you first need to obtain a driver's license. But as statistics show, this procedure is not given to everyone the first time; more than half of applicants take the exam at the traffic police again.
The practice of 2021 shows that the traffic police departments specializing in certifying students and issuing driving documents to them are overcrowded. This is due to the fact that future motorists go for a retake at every opportunity. After all, the state duty on them has been abolished, and each new attempt costs nothing (only renting a driving school vehicle). Therefore, candidates who have poor knowledge of traffic rules do not try too hard, hoping for the next attempt. And everyone has to stand in long lines waiting for their turn. In this regard, this procedure may take more than one month.
What you need to pass successfully
Tatyana Varlamova, founder of the Auto-Chance driving school, Yekaterinburg:
“The main thing is driving practice. The instructor teaches the cadet how to move and, most importantly, how to think while driving. The driver must think 70% for himself and 30% for the situation on the road. In the last classes before passing, the teacher gives the student the same commands that he will have to perform in the exam, so that he is ready and can cope with them. During an external exam, even a perfectly prepared student can become confused. But the most important thing is not to be nervous. Perhaps this would be the advice. A lot depends on this.”

Driving school training
To start training at a driving school, the future driver needs to collect the necessary documents and choose a driving school in which he will undergo training. The required documents include:
- passport;
- photograph 3 x 4 cm;
- medical report.
A medical certificate can be obtained from an institution of any form of ownership. It must contain the opinions of the following doctors:
- therapist;
- ophthalmologist;
- psychiatrist;
- psychiatrist-narcologist.
Reference
A psychiatrist and narcologist must work in a state medical institution. The opinions of other doctors, as well as the certificate itself, can be obtained at a private medical center.
How to choose a driving school
When choosing a driving school, you can focus on several factors. One of the determining factors is the cost of training. In the regions it varies from 15 to 25 thousand rubles, in Moscow it starts from 30 thousand rubles, although you can find cheaper options. You should not chase the lowest price - it often means low quality of training. Also, many driving schools indicate that the cost of training does not include individual expenses, for example, the price of gasoline.
Therefore, you need to pay attention to other important indicators. There is no point in talking about the requirement for teachers and instructors to have a license, a traffic police report, an autodrome and a document on education - these are mandatory conditions for driving schools to provide educational services.
A plus will be the availability of equipped classes and driving simulators - with them it will be easier to learn how to drive a car correctly. The duration of the course is also important - the training plan recommended by the Ministry of Education contains a minimum of 190 hours of training (130 hours of theory, 56 hours of practice, 4 hours of internal exam). If the contract specifies a shorter duration of the course, then it is worth choosing another option. Usually the course lasts at least 3 months; if a driving school offers to complete it faster, then there is a possibility that a significant part of the classes will be profanity. It is more profitable for such institutions to complete training faster and recruit new students than to train drivers well.
An individual approach to students can also be considered a plus - some schools may offer a convenient schedule for attending classes, will allow you to make up for missed lectures with another group, and offer additional driving lessons. Other driving schools take a more formal approach. Such conditions must be negotiated and specified in the agreement between the driving school and the student. Therefore, before concluding it, the future student must discuss such nuances with a representative of the institution.
The institution’s vehicle fleet is also of no small importance - the presence of new and serviceable cars, preferably foreign cars, will only be a plus. Cars must have both manual transmission and automatic transmission.
An important factor is the percentage of students who successfully pass the traffic police exams. The higher it is, the more quality training the institution provides. Good driving schools are proud of such indicators and demonstrate them; bad ones, as a rule, hide such information.
Well, the last way to find a good option is to ask friends and acquaintances. Recommendations from loved ones will help you find a driving school with professional instructors and teachers.
One less exam
The initial management skills test, colloquially known as the "platform", is being cancelled. However, its elements will be included in the practical driving test. In particular, such exercises as turning in a confined space, entering a box, parallel parking, and starting to move on an incline. The regulations state that these exercises can be performed on dead-end sections of roads, areas with low traffic volume, mainly outside residential areas. However, this is doubtful. Because to perform these exercises you need markings that comply with the regulations and cones. So in practice, most likely, the exam will start from the site and then flow into the city. But this will be decided by the traffic police departments in the regions.
For any car, whether a car, a truck or a bus, 30 minutes are allotted for it. For a car with a trailer - 40 minutes. For a truck or bus with a trailer - 50 minutes.
For motorcyclists, the exam remains virtually unchanged. They will still take theory and platform tests. On the site, the only thing that changed was the configuration of the Figure Eight exercise.
The examination route will be unknown to the candidate driver. He will only know the area and streets he will be driving on. The examiner will choose where to go.
At the same time, representatives of the driving school, as well as other driver candidates, were allowed into the examination cars.
Points will be awarded for errors. 5 points - “failed.” However, in some cases the “failed” grade will be given immediately. For example, if a candidate driver did not wear a seat belt or was using a phone while driving.
The entire exam will be conducted on video, which will then be stored for a year. The exam result may be canceled, but before the license is issued. The reason for this may be a complaint from a driver candidate. In this case, the candidate will be assigned a retake time. The exam will also be canceled if it is determined that the submitted documents are fake.
Acceptance of documents for passing the exam will be refused if it is determined that the driving school did not have a license at the time of training.
A driver's license will not be issued even after passing the exam if the driver is deprived of his license. Or he was deprived of his license, but did not fulfill the conditions for their return, for example, he did not surrender his driver’s license during the deprivation or did not pass a test on his knowledge of traffic rules.
