CASCO policy from "VSK" - Customer reviews, Cost calculation, Insured event and Payments

What does the document look like?

The legislation does not determine the appearance and form of the CASCO policy, which is why it often becomes the subject of forgery and fraud.

To avoid this, you need to know what elements must be present on the form.

  1. Barcode. The form must have a unique barcode. It can be used to quickly determine the authenticity of a policy at the insurance company's office.
  2. Wet printing. A mandatory detail on the policy is a “living seal”. There must also be a signature from the responsible person.
  3. Insurer details. The form contains:
      Name;
  4. legal address;
  5. current account number;
  6. insurance company phone number.
  7. Policyholder/driver details. The information and contact phone number of the policyholder, as well as information about the owner of the car, are indicated. In addition, the name and details of the recipient of the insurance compensation are indicated.
  8. Vehicle data. The policy contains complete information about the vehicle for which insurance is issued. In addition to the model, make and license plate number of the car, you need information about the mileage and year of manufacture.
  9. Information about the sum insured. A specific sum insured and liability limits are specified. Also, the contract must contain the period for which it is drawn up.

You can see what a completed sample CASCO policy looks like in the photo below:

What is a CASCO policy?

Casco is a voluntary car insurance policy that allows the car owner to receive compensation in the event of damage to a personal vehicle. When concluding an agreement with an insurance company, the car owner is issued a policy confirming that he has insurance and containing basic information about him and his vehicle.

Important! Insurance companies, based on the Federal Law “On the Organization of Insurance Activities,” can independently set comprehensive insurance rates, put forward additional requirements for car owners and determine the appearance of insurance documents.

What else are they giving out?

The following is issued along with the CASCO policy:

  1. Receipt of payment.
  2. Insurance rules.
  3. Vehicle inspection report. In some cases it may not be required:
      if the car is new;
  4. in case of renewal of a break-even policy.
  5. Additional agreement (if drawn up). It may stipulate conditions that are not included in the contract itself, as well as changes, additions and exceptions determined individually.

Sometimes insurance companies issue plastic cards with the CASCO contract number, but this is not a prerequisite.

How can you confirm authenticity?

You can verify the authenticity of the purchased insurance in the organization to which it should belong, according to the broker’s approval. To obtain confirmation, you should contact the company’s office or call the insurer and get the information you need over the phone.

Checking a CASCO policy by number in the RSA database is not possible. In RSA, you can determine by the number the legality of the MTPL policies. Again, since the law does not require mandatory registration of CASCO insurance, these policies are not entered into the RSA databases. We talked about this in this article.

Call your insurer. Call the Investigative Committee at the numbers listed on the official website or other open sources. Give the operator your individual policy number and ask them to check it in the database. If the operator answers that the data is not displayed, it is better to refrain from purchasing.

Find the number in the database. There is no single database of numbers. Each company has its own. Go to the insurance company website, find the database and enter the individual policy number. It is better to refuse the purchase if:

  • the result will not be found;
  • appears o;
  • CASCO insurance is issued to another person.

Some companies do not make their database publicly available for search. Then it is better to call the IC.

Check the receipt and insurance rules. Along with the policy, you should be given the rules - a small book with a detailed description of the terms of the contract - and a receipt with an individual series and number. If they are not there, it is better to refuse the purchase.

Compare the form with the photograph from the Investigative Committee. Some company websites may have photographs of the original form. Compare the policy you receive with them. If you find at least one difference, it is better to check the authenticity by number or at the IC office.

If you have a fake policy, you will not be able to get your money back. If you have already received compensation or carried out repairs using a fraudulent form, the insurance company may require you to compensate for the damage. Therefore, it is better to take out insurance from trusted companies. Use our online calculator to find the best deals.

You can check the authenticity of CASCO in the following ways:

  • according to the policy number indicated on it;
  • visually, paying attention to the document format and its security elements.

The easiest and most reliable way is to check the authenticity of the policy number. But in each case, this method has some limitations due to the lack of a single base.

Thus, checking an MTPL policy is quite simple: there is a unified information system that allows you to easily identify a document by its number, regardless of the name of the insurance company from which it was purchased. With CASCO everything is somewhat more complicated.

Another way to verify the authenticity of a pole is visual. It's quite simple to implement. There is no single standard for issuing a CASCO policy, but it must necessarily contain protective equipment (embossing, watermarks, holograms).

You can check the authenticity of a CASCO policy indirectly.

When registering, the client should receive:

  • payment receipt;
  • original policy;
  • insurance rules for the selected insurance company;
  • certificate of the inspection (if carried out);
  • additional agreement (if any).

The absence of any of the documents listed above is a serious cause for concern.

Especially if for some reason the employee refuses to provide the original policy, offering a certified copy, and does not issue a receipt for payment.

The fact is that these two documents have the greatest legal force. In the absence of their originals, it is simply impossible to prove anything in court. Fraudsters often take advantage of drivers’ legal illiteracy to deceive them.

You can find information on how to calculate the cost of a CASCO policy on this page.

Despite the fact that CASCO does not have a set form, most levels of document protection against forgery are similar.

Having picked up the form, a person must make sure that:

  • the paper contains special protective fibers that are visible to the naked eye upon careful inspection;
  • there are watermarks on the document;
  • at the top of the document is the company logo, which contains the details of the institution;
  • there are barcodes on the paper;
  • the document is sealed with a wet seal;
  • signatures of responsible persons are left by hand.

Having visited the company’s representative office located in the city of the car owner, you must ask to provide:

  • telephone numbers and email addresses where you can contact employees of the institution at any time;
  • information from insurance company executives;
  • TIN of the organization;
  • license number and date of its grant;
  • company bank details.

Neglecting the rules can lead to cooperation with scammers and the purchase of fake insurance. In this case, you will not be able to receive compensation. Therefore, you need to be vigilant in advance to protect yourself as much as possible.

Paper requirements

The document should not be printed on regular office paper. The characteristic features of a genuine form are as follows:

  • It is printed on paper with protective fibers, so it has a special texture. This can be determined by touch.
  • There may also be watermarks or a holographic logo - this will depend on the specific insurance company.

Important! To protect yourself from buying a counterfeit, it is better to first look at the website of the selected insurer to see what the policy looks like and what methods of protecting the forms are used.

Appearance of the CASCO form

Having decided to insure your car against all possible troubles, including rocks falling from the sky, you turn to an insurance broker or agent. Since there are no general requirements for this type of policy, it is sometimes difficult to figure out whether they are giving you a real document to sign or a worthless fake.

sample CASCO policy

Indeed, each insurance company develops its own original form for CASCO, but there are a number of general points that must be present in the document. First of all, you should know that the contract consists of two parts:

  • insurance rules;
  • CASCO policy.

The information on the form may vary, but usually it is always present:

  • logo, name, address and telephone number, bank details of the insurance company;
  • FULL NAME. and the addresses of the policyholder and the owner of the car (if these are two different people);
  • beneficiary data (for example, the name of the bank that issued the car loan and to which the insurance premium will be paid);
  • information about the car: make, year of manufacture, registration and engine numbers;
  • type of insurance (full, partial, GAP, etc.);
  • list of persons who are allowed to drive a car;
  • the risks against which the vehicle is insured are listed;
  • indication of the franchise, insurance price of the service, procedure for payment of compensation, limitation of the sum insured, etc.;
  • contract time.

The document may be supplemented with a clause on refusal of payments. For example, if the driver is driving while drunk, etc.

When included in the list of theft risks, all anti-theft means with which the vehicle is equipped are indicated.

Typically, insurance covers the entire territory of Russia, but for an additional fee you can expand its coverage area by adding other CIS countries or Western Europe. This option must also be displayed in the policy.

The insurance applies only to persons included in the policy. If an insured event occurs with another driver, the insurance company will refuse to pay.

The document must be certified by the signatures of the parties and the seal of the insurer.

In some organizations, a policy is not issued, but a bilateral agreement is concluded between the client and the insurance company, which specifies all of the above parameters.

What types of receipts confirm payment?

For the CASCO policy to take effect, you need to pay for it. To confirm payment, you must have a payment document in your hands:

  • payment order, if payment is made by bank transfer;
  • counterfoil of the cash order, if paid through the IC cash desk;
  • electronic terminal receipt if payment was made online;
  • cash receipt when using the card.

Of course, no one will give you the policy without payment, but it’s still better not to throw away the formal confirmation.

In addition to the policy, contract agreement, payment receipt, you may also be given a memo describing what to do in the event of an insured event, forms to fill out during an accident, and a vehicle inspection report. But not all insurers practice this.

How to distinguish an original from a fake?

Modern technologies, unfortunately, allow attackers to forge both seals and watermarks, so it is impossible to determine the authenticity of a policy with 100% authenticity only by sight. There are reliable ways to do this.

Agent/broker license verification

Even before applying for CASCO insurance, it is recommended to check the license of the insurer, agent or broker.

  1. To do this, you can personally contact the specialized insurance department and check the availability of a license in the registry.
  2. Another option is to go to the official website of the Central Bank. On the site you can check not only a general license, but also a license for a specific type of insurance. If the required company is not in the register, this indicates that the insurer either does not have a license or had one revoked, but the organization continues to exist. This is a gross violation of the law, punishable by law.

"Ingosstrakh" - CASCO insurance case, what to do?

When an insured event occurs, the action plan is quite simple:

  • Receive a package of documents for registration at the traffic police department.
  • Go to the nearest branch of the company with a package of documents.
  • Receive payments from the company.

Most drivers make many mistakes when an emergency occurs, which can lead to serious difficulties in the process of calculating compensation and payments.

The following steps must be completed by each driver:

  • Stop the vehicle if an emergency or collision occurs. Turn on the emergency lights.
  • Be sure to put up emergency signs using signs. They must be at a distance of 15m. If the accident occurred outside the city, the distance increases to 30m.
  • Call emergency numbers 112, 102. The last one is the police service. You can get through even if you have a negative balance on your mobile or roaming account. Carry out everything the police tell you to do
  • Record all the circumstances of the accident using possible technical means. The data must be transferred to OSAGO AIS. This can be done through mobile applications; the procedure will take no more than 10 minutes. It is recommended to record as much information as possible on video media in order to prove your case in case of controversial issues.
  • Be sure to clear the road so as not to become an obstacle to the movement of other vehicles.
  • If other drivers are participating, the notice must be filled out together.
  • Notify the company by calling 84959565555 for the Moscow region, or by calling the toll-free line 88001007755.

Consultants will help determine further actions and answer all clients’ questions.

Documents for CASCO

Documents for registration of comprehensive insurance must be collected in advance, checking with the selected company for the exact list of the program under which the car will be insured. Usually the list of documents for comprehensive insurance is wider than for registration of compulsory motor liability insurance. To apply for voluntary car insurance, the client must provide the following documents to the company:

  • Policyholder's passport;
  • Notarised power of attorney. A power of attorney will be required if the agreement is concluded not by the owner himself, but by an authorized representative;
  • Car owner's passport;
  • Documents for the car. In most cases, insurers require you to provide a PTS (vehicle passport). If the car was purchased on credit, the insurance company accepts a copy of the title;
  • Driver's licenses of all persons authorized to drive a car;
  • Agreement with the bank, if the car was purchased on credit;
  • Contract of sale. For new vehicles purchased at a dealership, the cost of the policy and the amount of insurance compensation are established on the basis of the purchase and sale agreement;
  • Agreement for the purchase of additional equipment. A contract will be required if the policyholder plans to insure additional equipment: car radio, wheels, speakers, etc.

Depending on the insurance program, the insurer may require an additional package of documents. A contract for the purchase and installation of an alarm system may be necessary if you want to insure an expensive new model car. The company may require you to provide 2 sets of car keys, an old voluntary insurance policy, and more.

What insurance programs exist

CASCO from Ingosstrakh covers a wide range of risks: accidents on the road, off the road and in a parking lot, falling and rebounding of foreign objects, hitting an obstacle, natural disasters and man-made accidents, unlawful intentional and unintentional actions of third parties, etc.

The policy works like a constructor. The following options are available:

  • death plus hijacking;
  • death plus damage;
  • death, theft, damage (maximum 120 thousand);
  • death, theft, damage regardless of the amount.

The insurer offers several insurance programs:

  1. " Express " for those who prefer an individual approach. Allows you to insure theft without documents and keys, total loss of a car regardless of the cause or only in an accident, natural disasters plus damage from a rebound object, an accident due to the fault of the policyholder, and an accident due to the fault of third parties. Any combination of risks is acceptable. Most makes of cars do not require an inspection. A minimum package of documents is required.
  2. " Half price ." Death and theft are fully compensated. Damage is only subject to additional payment of the remaining 50% of the policy cost. You can renew your insurance to full at any time.
  3. With mileage restrictions (only for Moscow and the Moscow region). The cost of the “Damage” option is reduced by 30% (mileage up to 5,000 km) and by 20% (mileage up to 10,000 km). Registration is possible only at the insurer's office.
  4. For a credit car . Includes the maximum set of risks, taking into account the requirements of the beneficiary bank.

It is permissible to pay for a CASCO policy in installments (50/50 for 3 months). The cost of insurance increases by 10%.

Additionally you can connect:

  • deductible from the 1st or 2nd insurance event;
  • roadside assistance;
  • overtime (extension of the manufacturer's warranty for a year);
  • GAP;
  • guarantee of mobility (taxi or car sharing during repairs and from the scene of an accident).

It is allowed to include expensive additional equipment in the policy. A separate policy is issued under the Tires and Wheels program.

Rules

Ingosstrakh insures vehicles under 10 years old . When taking out a policy for a credit car, full CASCO is required (deductible is prohibited), and the bank is listed as the beneficiary of the policy. The amount of insurance compensation is non-aggregate.

If the payment decision is positive, a referral for repairs is issued. New and credit cars are repaired at an authorized dealer. In case of total loss, monetary compensation is paid. The insurance company will refuse to pay if the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, a person not included in the insurance is driving, or property damage was caused intentionally. Or the insurer was not notified of the occurrence of the insured event in a timely manner (7 days, in case of theft - immediately).

It is possible to renew CASCO insurance 30 days before the expiration of the previous policy.

Reviews

Customers generally respond positively to CASCO insurance, citing only one drawback - the price is too high compared to competitors. Negative reviews concern MTPL policies. The insurer underestimates payments or even refuses without a detailed explanation. Many clients are not satisfied with the reduction in the number of accredited car services.
