About the organization
The Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (GUOBDD MVD of Russia) (also the State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate - GIBDD, State Traffic Inspectorate - GAI) is an independent structural unit of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia provides and carries out the functions of the Ministry to develop proposals for the formation and implementation of the main directions of state policy, legal regulation in the field of road safety.
Any motorist, and even a pedestrian, can seek advice from traffic police technical support staff. The range of services is not limited to consultations regarding the payment of fines, actions of employees, clarification of regulations, statements about broken traffic lights, etc. You can find out any questions related to traffic and safety.
Traffic police hotline for fines in St. Petersburg
To use the traffic police hotline for fines, you need to call 8 . The procedure can be performed from a mobile or landline phone. By calling, a citizen gets to the national traffic police hotline for fines. There is no charge for the call. When you reach the operator, you must provide your STS number and driver’s license details. Line overload is common. Therefore, to get an answer, you must wait.

If it turns out that there is a fine with which the person does not agree, you can immediately get advice on appealing it. Additionally, it is allowed to write a statement to the authorized body against a representative of the State Traffic Inspectorate who committed violations.
How to write to the traffic police support service?
There is only one way to submit a request for consideration to the technical department of the organization. The support team only considers requests sent through the official website.
You must select the “Acceptance of requests” section on the traffic police website - https://gibdd.rf/request_main and fill out the form, indicating important information. If necessary, photo and video materials are attached to help quickly understand the situation.
In other cases, citizens are advised to contact the available communication channels, the main one being the hotline. Additional reference information can be found in the “Questions and Answers” section.
Contacting the traffic police hotline online in St. Petersburg
You can contact us about your concerns online. To do this, you need to go to the official website of the traffic police. To send a request, you must:
- Go to the official website of the institution.
- Select the Traffic Police Services section.
- Select Send request.
- Read the information about the provision of the service and confirm this fact by checking the appropriate box.
- Click on Submit a request.
- Fill out the online form.
- Send a request to the traffic police.
IMPORTANT
The response will be sent to the email address specified during the application process. The method is not suitable for situations where traffic police assistance is urgently needed. The answer will be given within 30 days.
What is the telephone number of the traffic police hotline?
The hotline telephone serves as the main source of communication for pedestrians or drivers, which is why most citizens use it. Applications are accepted promptly, without delay, at any time and from all regions. You can call the hotline.
Calls are accepted around the clock, from all cellular and landline devices. An additional short telephone number is 102, available from all mobile phones.

Who can call the traffic police hotline?
The list of situations in which it is permissible to contact representatives of the traffic police support service is extensive. During the call you will be able to:
- file an application or send a complaint against a traffic police officer;
- express gratitude to the representative of the state traffic inspectorate or put forward a proposal;
- to get a consultation;
- request information of interest;
- obtain clarification regarding current regulations.
It is recommended to contact the state traffic police by phone if you have questions regarding the specifics of the traffic police. In practice, traffic rules can be interpreted differently. If a person believes that he has been accused without reason, or a representative of the State Traffic Inspectorate has exceeded his authority, complaints are filed. You can report the situation by calling the traffic police hotline. Additionally, requests regarding issued fines and debts to pay them are accepted.
IMPORTANT
Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate can also use the traffic police helpline. Usually inspectors call if the driver tries to give a bribe.
