Requirements for a future driver
Truckers are specialists who drive trucks designed to transport large cargo over long distances. Driving a truck requires a person to have certain skills and experience in operating such equipment.
This profession is suitable for hardy people who are able to endure the monotony of the environment, significant physical and psychological stress associated with unloading goods and prolonged concentration. The work of a driver does not fall into the category of easy work, but it has some advantages, including the opportunity to visit various cities and countries, as well as decent earnings.
Driving a truck usually attracts men who are fascinated by the romance of the road and powerful cars. Anyone who has no medical restrictions can master the specialty of a truck driver.
A truck can be driven professionally by a person who has extensive experience in driving a vehicle, who understands the structure of truck systems and components, and who can fix minor breakdowns on their own.

Requirements for a future truck driver
Driving schools provide everyone with the opportunity to obtain a driver’s license with category “C” or the right to drive a truck and trucks.
Truckers are the highest caste; such drivers have a special category of truck license, which allows them to transport various loads over many kilometers. This profession is not suitable for everyone; you need to have endurance and withstand the monotony of the environment for many days. The work is associated with the psychological aspects of hard work, but the reward will be the opportunity to see the world and earn a decent income.
This profession attracts those men who love powerful tractors and the romance of long journeys, but good health and at least 3 years of experience driving freight transport are required. In addition, you need knowledge of the material part in order to, if necessary, eliminate minor problems without outside help.

Category “D” – bus
To have the right to drive buses, a person must have a driver’s license in category “D”:
- category “D” - transport carrying passengers with more than 8 seats. The driver's seat is not included in the total number of seats;
- transport category “D” in conjunction with a trailer weighing no more than 750 kilograms.
Category “D” gives the right to drive buses of various sizes, regardless of their weight, including a combination of “bus plus trailer” with a maximum weight of the latter not exceeding 750 kg. If the weight of the trailer itself is more than 750 kg, an open category “DE” is required.
Category "DE"
“DE” is a vehicle from category “D” coupled with a trailer weighing more than 750 kilograms. An articulated bus is also included here.
Subcategory "D1"
- subcategory “D1” - a vehicle for transporting passengers with more than 8 and less than 16 seats, not including the driver’s seat;
- a car of subcategory “D1” coupled with a trailer weighing no more than 750 kilograms;
This subcategory allows you to drive a small bus (from 9 to 16 seats), as well as operate a light trailer (weight less than 750 kg).
If there is a need to use heavier trailers, you will need a subcategory “D1E” for the bus driver:
- subcategory “D1E” - vehicles of subcategory “D1” coupled with a trailer weighing no more than 750 kilograms and which is not used for transporting people. The weight of the trailer should not be greater than the weight of the main vehicle without load and the total weight of such a coupling should not be more than 12 tons.
All categories of driver's licenses with transcripts
Depending on the type of vehicle, its weight and technical features, rights are divided into categories. To manage many of them, separate training is provided, but subcategories most often open automatically. To finally understand this issue, let’s consider the features of each category of driver’s license.
The main limitations, as before, are the weight (of both the vehicle itself and its trailer), the number of passenger seats and, in some cases, engine power.
Category “A”. The holder of such a license can drive a motorcycle with or without a sidecar with a total weight of up to 400 kg. This includes three- and four-wheeled vehicles that pass the weight limits.
Category “B”. Includes passenger cars with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons and a number of passenger seats of up to eight. In addition, a trailer of up to 750 kg or more is allowed. The latter option is possible if the total weight of such a “road train” does not exceed the legal limit of 3.5 tons. Category “B” is suitable for all passenger cars, as well as for driving jeeps and minibuses, subject to the established restrictions.
Category “BE”. It is additional to the previous category and removes the trailer weight limit. That is, a driver with such a license can transport trailers weighing more than 750 kg with cars from category “B”. In this case, the total weight of the vehicle with the trailer is also taken into account - it should not exceed 3.5 tons.
Category “C”. Permits driving vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons, with the exception of passenger vehicles belonging to category “D”. If you plan to use a trailer, you need to ensure that its maximum weight does not exceed 750 kg.
Category “CE”. In many ways it is similar to “BE”, only it belongs to category “C” cars. It also removes the trailer weight limit.
Category “D”. Necessary for passenger transportation in cars and buses with more than eight seats. This includes most public transport. As for the weight of the trailer, it should still fit into the standard 750 kg.
Category “DE”. This includes articulated buses and vehicles from category “D” connected to a trailer weighing more than 750 kg.
Category “M”. Used for driving mopeds and light quadricycles. This right is available to holders of driving licenses of any category.
Categories “Tb”, “Tm”. Gives the right to drive trolleybuses and trams. Thanks to amendments to the law, these categories have become separate. In old-style certificates, such a right was noted in “special marks”.
Legislators did not limit themselves to introducing new categories of driver's licenses. Today in Russia there are six additional subcategories, some of which open automatically.
Subcategory “A1”. This group includes motorcycles with a maximum engine capacity of 125 cm3 and a maximum power of 11 kW. Among vehicles in this category, for example, a scooter or ATV has such characteristics. Owners of rights of category “A” are assigned this subcategory automatically.
Subcategory “B1”. Designed to control three- and four-wheeled vehicles with an empty weight of up to 550 kg. In this case, the maximum speed of the vehicle should not exceed 50 km/h, and the engine capacity should not exceed 50 cm3. A driver's license with a similar category is useful for driving tricycles and quadricycles.
Please note that driving ATVs and ATVs requires different categories of driving licenses. To control an ATV, the “A1” subcategory must be open.
Subcategory “C1”. Available for all licenses with category “C”. Allows you to drive vehicles from 3.5 to 7.5 tons, excluding passenger vehicles of category “D”. A trailer up to 750 kg is allowed.
Subcategory “C1E”. Opens automatically upon receipt of a “CE” category license and allows you to drive the same vehicle of subcategory “C1”, but with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg. At the same time, the weight of the trailer cannot exceed that of the vehicle itself without load, and the total weight of the road train must be within 12 tons.
Subcategory “D1”. Provides control of passenger transport with 8 to 16 seats in the cabin, excluding the driver's seat. The trailer requirements are standard – up to 750 kg. Subcategory “D1” is available for all category “D” driving licenses.
Subcategory “D1E”. Allows driving a vehicle of subcategory “D1” with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg, provided that its weight is less than or equal to the unladen weight of the vehicle. The total weight of a bus with a trailer must be within 12 tons. In addition, the trailer cannot be passenger - only cargo.
Where do they teach truck driving?
You can learn to drive a truck at almost any driving school. Specialized training programs allow you to obtain a truck license after successfully passing exams.
Truck driving training on simulators
Typically, training programs include the following elements:
- developing truck driving skills;
- features of maneuvering in narrow areas;
- the most effective driving techniques;
- various parking methods;
- access to the site from different angles.
Which cars do not require tachographs?
Good afternoon, dear reader.
A tachograph is a special device that monitors compliance with work and rest schedules by vehicle drivers.
Initially, the installation of tachographs has a good goal - to prevent accidents caused by fatigue of drivers working without a break for tens of hours.
However, in practice, vehicle owners try to avoid installing monitoring equipment. This is due to the fact that the cost of installing a tachograph on a truck reaches several tens of thousands of rubles and this is a very impressive amount.
Below you will find out on which cars you can not install tachographs on completely legal grounds. Let's get started.
The document that regulates the issue of installing tachographs is the order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation “On approval of the requirements for tachographs installed on vehicles, categories and types of vehicles equipped with tachographs, rules for the use, maintenance and control of the operation of tachographs installed on vehicles,” appendix No. 2 “Categories and types of vehicles equipped with tachographs.”
Categories and types of vehicles equipped with tachographs
The tachograph is designed to record the time the driver spent driving, other work and breaks. This device saves the history of the working day, to which employees of regulatory authorities have access.
That is, in general, a tachograph is needed to monitor compliance with the driver’s work and rest schedule.
Work and rest schedule for drivers
Tachographs must be installed on the following types of vehicles:
- Buses (vehicles with more than eight seats and used to transport passengers);
- Trucks heavier than 3.5 tons.
So now you can easily answer the question of whether a tachograph is needed for a cargo gazelle. Since the permissible maximum weight of such a vehicle does not exceed 3.5 tons, there is no need to install a tachograph.
Please note that there is a list of exceptions, i.e. buses and trucks that do not need tachographs:
- Trolleybuses;
- Cars carrying out international transportation and equipped with “European model” tachographs;
- Military vehicles;
- Cars of bodies carrying out operational investigative activities (police, FSB, FSIN, etc.);
- Vehicles registered with state technical supervision (tractors and self-propelled vehicles);
- Vehicles over 30 years old that are not intended for commercial transportation (for which a recycling fee is not paid);
- Training vehicles not used for commercial transport;
- Cars undergoing road tests.
Please note that earlier this list also included buses providing regular urban and suburban services. However, as of November 20, 2021, these vehicles are no longer included in the exemption list.
In addition to the vehicles listed above, there is another list of exceptions (based on the type of work performed):
- Truck-mounted concrete pumps;
- Truck mixers;
- Asphalt distributors;
- Truck cranes;
- Ambulances;
- Tow trucks;
- Fire trucks;
- Vehicles for public utilities and road maintenance;
- Vehicles for servicing oil and gas wells;
- Collection vehicles (for transporting money and valuable goods);
- Vehicles equipped with lifts with working platforms;
- Medical complexes on vehicle chassis;
- Auto shops;
- Buses for funeral services;
- Car-homes;
- Armored vehicles;
- Specialized vehicles (specially equipped milk tankers, livestock tankers, vehicles for transporting poultry, eggs, live fish, machines for transporting and applying mineral fertilizers);
- Category C trucks used by agricultural producers for on-farm transportation (transportation within the boundaries of the municipal district in which the vehicles are registered, as well as municipal districts bordering it);
- Special vehicles;
- Mobile laboratories and workshops;
- Mobile television studios.
This list includes many specialized vehicles. There is no need to install tachographs on them and this will not entail a fine.
The most popular type of truck used in construction work is the dump truck. Let's consider whether a tachograph is needed for a Kamaz dump truck.
On the one hand, if a dump truck is used by a construction company building residential buildings, then it definitely needs a tachograph.
On the other hand, if Kamaz is used for public utilities, then its owner has reasonable questions. Is it possible not to install a tachograph in this case?
In accordance with this interpretation, the traffic police does not require the installation of tachographs, for example, on cars equipped with brushes for cleaning roads. However, the traffic police requires tachographs to be installed on dump trucks used in public utilities and imposes fines for their absence.
Until November 1, 2021, the installation of tachographs was mandatory only for vehicles used by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. Those. private owners would not need a tachograph.
3. Individuals operating trucks, the permissible maximum weight of which exceeds 3500 kilograms, and buses are obliged to:...
ensure that the vehicles they operate are equipped with tachographs. Requirements for tachographs, as well as the procedure for equipping tachographs, the rules for their use, maintenance and control of their operation are established in the manner determined in accordance with paragraph ten of paragraph 1 of this article;
Thus, from November 1, 2021, a tachograph is required, including for personal trucks of category C and personal buses.
Introduction of tachographs on cars of individuals from November 1, 2019
Quite a common question. The driver buys a truck or bus for commercial transportation, but does not intend to register an individual entrepreneur or legal entity. Is a tachograph needed in this case?
Starting from November 1, 2021, the issue can be resolved quite easily, because... tachographs must be installed on all category C trucks and category D buses. That is, it does not matter who the owner is.
1. Carrying out entrepreneurial activities without state registration as an individual entrepreneur or without state registration as a legal entity –
The size of this fine is comparable to the fine for not having a tachograph.
As of March 2, 2021, the use of analogue tachographs is no longer permitted. They need to be replaced with digital ones that include a CIPF block.

The procedure for equipping vehicles with tachographs
Fines for not having a tachograph are discussed in detail in a separate article. Their sizes:
- 3,000 – 5,000 rubles – for the driver.
- 7,000 – 10,000 rubles – for an official.
- 15,000 – 25,000 – for an individual entrepreneur.
- 20,000 – 50,000 – for a legal entity.
Among drivers you can often hear the opinion that tachographs have been canceled until 2021 or 2021. Apparently, this is due to unverified publications in the media. Currently, the installation of tachographs is mandatory, and all exceptions are listed within the scope of this article.
What you need to know when driving a truck
When driving trucks, there are a large number of nuances that should be taken into account in order to avoid unpleasant situations:
- sudden movements of the steering wheel should be avoided;
- increased braking distance;
- action of inertial force;
- the occurrence of drifts and drifts when cornering;
- early reduction in speed;
- taking into account the dimensions of the car.
How to properly back up a truck with a semi-trailer
Transportation of goods as the main profession requires the driver to have a category “C” license, and in some cases, category “E”, minor repair skills and knowledge of the technical structure of cars, traffic rules, legislation regulating the transportation of various cargoes, and the ability to fill transport documentation.

Category "A" - motorcycle
Category “A” gives the right to drive any type of motorcycle, including those equipped with a sidecar.
In addition to the above, category “A” allows you to drive a motorized wheelchair (if anyone else remembers what it is).
Let us remind you: in accordance with the traffic rules, a motorcycle is a two-wheeled vehicle without or with a side trailer. Category “A” allows you to drive a three-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicle weighing less than 400 kilograms in running order.
Subcategory "A1"
This subcategory includes a motorcycle with an engine capacity of no more than 125 cm3 and a power of no more than 11 kW.
This subcategory, roughly speaking, refers to motorcycles with a small engine and low power.
Driving license category A
1. In the Russian Federation, the following categories and their subcategories of vehicles are established, for which a special right to drive is granted (hereinafter referred to as the right to drive vehicles):
category "A" - motorcycles;
A category A driver's license allows you to drive any motorcycle, including motorcycles with a sidecar.
In addition, it gives the right to drive motorized wheelchairs, which are extremely difficult to find on the roads in 2021.
Let me remind you that, in accordance with the traffic rules, motorcycles include two-wheeled vehicles with or without a side trailer. In addition, category A allows you to drive three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles that, when loaded, weigh no more than 400 kg.
Driving lessons
In many regions of Russia, driving schools train truck drivers, so applicants who have passed a medical selection and successfully passed the exam for driving a large vehicle can obtain a truck license.
Training program
The approved training includes the following subjects:
- practical skills in driving trucks;
- features of maneuvers on a narrow road;
- specific driving techniques;
- performing parking;
- feeding for unloading at different angles.
For your information! A truck driver who delivers goods over long distances is a prestigious and well-paid profession, but it is not suitable for every person.
What is the training period for a category C license?
Training for a C-category driver's license takes four to six months. During this time, the future motorist receives theoretical knowledge and trains practical skills in driving a car. Afterwards he takes exams: an internal one at a driving school and an exam at the traffic police.
Upon successful completion of the tests, the driving school graduate receives a driver's license. The traffic police exam consists of three stages: theory, testing ground and city. Then the question of which cars can be driven with category C will no longer be relevant, because driving tests are held on the corresponding trucks.
What documents should a dump truck driver have with him 2021
Consignment note. Is the main document. It is usually provided by the company sending the nonmetallic materials. The bill of lading form consists of two sections: transport and goods. In the case of transportation of crushed stone, sand and other similar goods, the 1-t form TTN is used.
Any route will be crowned with success if it is competently “designed”, and the driver of the vehicle carrying out tipper transportation will “sleep peacefully” (not behind the wheel, of course), without fear of meeting unfriendly representatives of the traffic police and others on his way...

How candidates are selected
Training to become a dump truck driver involves gaining knowledge about the rules of operating a vehicle, the causes of problems and how to troubleshoot problems.
Quarry self-unloading trucks belong to the Ultra Truck class, which excludes operation on public roads. Therefore, certain requirements are imposed on future drivers. These include:
- age over 19 years;
- availability of a category “C” driver’s license and more than 1 year of driving experience;
- no medical contraindications.
The training program is available to citizens upon presentation of a medical certificate confirming that the person can drive tractors, self-propelled and other agricultural machines.
What is included in the training courses
Training in driving dump trucks is carried out in training centers that have permission to conduct educational activities and have a fleet of the necessary special equipment.
The courses include the following educational blocks:
- theoretical classes in which students learn the structure and operating principle of quarry equipment;
- practical classes where students hone their driving skills and consolidate previously acquired knowledge.
The training ends with passing a theoretical and practical exam by the Gostekhnadzor inspection.
After passing the exams, a category AIII tractor driver certificate is issued, which allows access to work on dump trucks.
Driving school exams
A person who wants to become a professional truck driver needs to undergo appropriate training at a driving school. After completing the theoretical stage of training, it is time to take an exam on knowledge of the rules of the road. If the test is successfully passed, the future truck driver proceeds to the practical part of the exam, which consists of the following stages:
- driving a truck on a closed circuit;
- passing various obstacles - overpass, “snake”, parking.
If you successfully complete the tasks of the autodrome, the final stage of the exam begins - a trip in a truck around the city. Upon successful completion of all tests, the person receives a driver's license.

Procedure for obtaining category C license
It is worth noting right away that there are 2 ways to obtain a license in this driver category: paid and free. The paid method involves training in a driving school. When choosing it, you should consider the following nuances:
• The driving school must have all the necessary material and technical capabilities for training for a category C license.
As a rule, driving schools located in large cities have such opportunities. Therefore, if you really need high-quality training for category C, this point should be taken into account.
• Tuition fees should not be excessively high. The final price of training at a driving school consists of such factors as the cost of gasoline, the work of instructors and teachers, as well as the total time of “arrivals”, that is, how much time is allocated for the practical development of truck driving skills. Basically, the price consists of these factors. You shouldn’t rush into overly cheap offers from driving schools, but you should also be wary of expensive courses: a high price does not guarantee high-quality training.
• All material, both practical and theoretical, must be literally “chewed” by the instructors and teachers of the driving school.
First of all, the task of a driving school is to provide a good knowledge base, both practical and theoretical. Safety on the road depends on the level of knowledge, skills and abilities of a driving school graduate.
There is also a free way to study for a category C license. To do this, you need to contact the military commissariat and “give a guarantee” for further military service.
By studying through the military registration and enlistment office, you can not only save money, but also obtain an army specialty. And the position of a driver is much more honorable than that of an ordinary private. In addition, after completing military service, you can get a good job in civilian life, for example, as a delivery driver or a truck driver.
Moreover, if, after completing training for a license, a future military driver does not complete military service for any reason, then he is obliged to reimburse the entire cost of training.
Driver's license
For career growth and an increase in wages, a person specializing in truck driving must obtain a license with an open category “E”, allowing the transportation of goods on vehicles with trailers.
To obtain a document in this category, in addition to a medical certificate, you must have more than one year of truck driving experience.
To pass the exam for category “E” (“CE” in the case of a truck), there is no need to retake the theoretical test. It is enough to complete the following elements:
- reversing in a straight line;
- rear access to the platform.
After passing two tests, the driver is allowed to drive a car with a trailer in urban conditions. Successful passing of the practical test guarantees obtaining a driver's license.

How to get a driver's license
There are no truck drivers with category B. To apply for this position, you must have an appropriate certificate, the availability of which will be checked by the employer.
Most often, the profession of a truck driver is chosen by strong men who like cars and the romance of the road, who are able to repair any car malfunction on their own. But hobbies alone are not enough; you need to have experience and driving experience to get behind the wheel of a truck.
Simulator training.
BY THE WAY! To obtain a license, a truck driver, just like any other driver, must not have any medical restrictions or contraindications.
During courses at a driving school, they teach driving first on special truck simulators, and only then on real cars.
The program includes:
- general truck driving skills;
- effective driving and maneuvering techniques in different road conditions;
- various parking methods;
- access to unloading and loading facilities.
The exam at a driving school for truck drivers includes three stages, just like the standard procedure for obtaining a license:
- general theoretical part on traffic rules;
- driving a truck on a racing track;
- trip around the city.
After passing the exam, a new international driving license is issued.
What are the similarities and what are the differences?
When it comes to truck tractors and semi-trailers, one immediately thinks of a multi-ton truck, which requires a “CE” license to drive. However, among tractors there are many options that can be driven by a person who does not have the right to drive a truck with a total weight of more than 3.5 tons. However, for full use of such equipment, as in the case of a conventional truck, you will also need category “E”, or more precisely, “BE”.
If you have category “B” rights, getting “BE” is much easier, faster and cheaper than “CE”. To retrain for this category, you must have at least two years of experience and be at least 21 years old. Duration of training – 1.5 months. At the end of the training, you will have a practical exam at the traffic police. You will have to check in at a garage, climb up an overpass, and drive around the city.
Having received a driver's license of category "BE", you will be able to drive a tractor-trailer with a semi-trailer. Such tractors are created on the basis of Iveco Daily, Renault Mascott, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, etc. Since 2004, a truck tractor under category “B” has also appeared in the GAZ line.
Externally and structurally, such vehicles really look like a classic truck. Dimensions may also be similar, the main difference being the load capacity.
Despite the impressive external parameters, the technically permissible total weight of such a road train should not exceed 7 tons. Otherwise, to manage such a composition, you will need “rights” of the “CE” category.
Road trains that fit the “BE” category can be used to transport passenger cars. Such a platform can accommodate from two to three cars, depending on the weight and dimensions.
Driving license category C
Having received only category C, you cannot immediately become a truck driver. An employer will not put a novice behind the wheel of a large Volvo or Scania with a trailer, and buying a truck for 2-3 million rubles is an extremely rash act for a novice driver. First, it is advisable to gain experience by traveling on short-distance flights, intercity or in your native region.
You can open category C at the same time as B for a passenger car, thereby saving both time and money on training at a driving school. Professional truck drivers advise starting to gain driving experience in a truck with a “Gazelle” or “Bychka”.
This car is easier to drive, since it is much smaller, and life and life are almost the same as those of long-distance truck drivers, with the only difference being that the distance is shorter and you can spend the night at home much more often.
A good alternative would be to work on a mining dump truck or road equipment. This interesting experience will allow you to get behind the wheel of a large truck immediately after receiving a fresh category C license. Moreover, the work does not involve long-distance flights; this technique is mainly used for delivering construction materials or removing snow in winter.
Gaining driving experience.
BY THE WAY! In accordance with the latest changes in traffic regulations, category C applies to trucks over 3,500 kg and tractor-trailers whose permissible maximum weight does not exceed 7,500 kg.
All cars weighing less than 3,500 kg fall under category B.
Additional category CE
You can open a CE category license only one year after receiving a category C certificate.
Driving a truck with a trailer is not so easy.
There are certain rules and nuances that a truck driver should know in advance:
- take into account the dimensions of the heavy truck;
- remember the inertia force of a large vehicle;
- eliminate skidding in corners;
- smoothly turn the steering wheel in the desired direction.
For example, when backing up in a car with a semi-trailer, you should remember that turning the steering wheel to the right will cause the trailer to move to the left.
IMPORTANT! Due to greater inertia, the braking distance of a truck is much longer than that of a passenger car.
To better understand what exercises need to be performed on the site to pass the exam for category E, you can watch videos on YouTube, for example:
Subcategory C1
Currently, upon receipt of category C license, subcategory C1 opens automatically. It gives the right to drive a truck with a maximum weight of 3,500 to 7,500 kg. A 750kg trailer also falls into this subcategory.
Subcategory C1E
Like C1, subcategory C1E opens after passing an additional exam for driving a truck with a CE trailer. To obtain it, you must have a year of driving experience. C1E allows you to drive a tractor with a semi-trailer with a total maximum weight of up to 12 tons with a trailer weight exceeding 750 kg.
What category of rights is needed for a truck?
It's no secret that in order to drive a vehicle, you need a driver's license. Moreover, for a certain vehicle there must be a corresponding category in the license. Therefore, to drive a truck, you need a category C driver's license. Read more about this category in our article.
Thus, according to changes in the law “On Road Safety”, which came into force on November 5, 2013, Chapter 25 states:
1. In the Russian Federation, the following categories and their subcategories of vehicles are established, for which a special right to drive is granted (hereinafter referred to as the right to drive vehicles):
category “C” - cars, with the exception of cars of category “D”, the permissible maximum weight of which exceeds 3500 kilograms; cars of category “C” coupled to a trailer whose maximum permitted weight does not exceed 750 kilograms.
Law “On Road Safety”
It is clear here that according to the changes, it is necessary to open an additional subcategory in order to drive this vehicle. This is a simple procedure; it involves passing the same standards as when opening any other categories or subcategories of rights.
First you need to graduate from the appropriate driving school, and then sign up for an exam at the traffic police. You need to choose the department to which the driving school is directly assigned. First you need to pass the theory, and then there is practice, where the driver must show his ability to drive this type of transport, that is, a truck. The training procedure is described in more detail in this article.
Important!
If there is a need to drive a truck with a trailer, then you need to open the CE category. In this case, you need to agree with the traffic police when it is possible to do this. Usually, you can open the next category after the previous one almost immediately, but the exact time will be indicated to you at the branch. When the category for a truck driver with a trailer is opened, you can work on this type of transport.
In order to open the CE category, you also need to pass the exam, which includes theory and practice. You don't need to go to a driving school again. Here, the same certificate that you received earlier while studying for category C will suit you. So, it is much more convenient to first open this category for driving a truck, and then a subcategory for a truck with a trailer.
Replacement of rights with category E
Category E truck drivers, like all other drivers, must replace their license after 10 years from the date of issue. This cannot be done for free; you must pay a state fee. There is no need to re-examine, but if you miss the expiration date, the road inspector will issue a fine if this fact is discovered.
BY THE WAY! A separate category E license has not existed since July 2000.
When replacing an old-style document, traffic police officers did not always enter the categories correctly. If the driver had open categories B, C and E, then the new license should contain the marks B, B1, C, C1, BE, CE, C1E. Inspectors often missed category BE, although this was unlawful.
IMPORTANT! The fine for driving with an expired license will range from 5 to 15 thousand rubles. The state fee for replacing a license will cost 2 thousand rubles.
When is an additional category needed?
Driving any vehicle with a trailer requires an endorsement on your driver's license. E is a category of truck drivers, which gives them the right to drive a heavy truck with a trailer. And if the driver of a dump truck or “Lawn” can do without it, then in order to drive a truck, and even more so an auto-train, an additional category is required.
Obtaining it does not require a theoretical exam, only practical maneuvers on the site:
- moving a truck with a trailer in reverse in a straight line;
- tailgate access to the loading platform.
Then the exam on city streets in traffic. After successful completion of the license, additional designations E are added to the existing ones C, B or D.
