List of damage in road accidents on the traffic police website - how to decipher

When is comprehensive insurance required?

By purchasing a comprehensive insurance policy, the driver can choose protection against damage or against damage and theft (theft). Everything is clear about the theft. What about the damage? They may be the result of an accident, fire, natural disaster or illegal actions of third parties. In the latter case, we mean scratches and dents on the body, theft of wheels, mirrors, etc. Also considered an insured event is a situation where the owner unintentionally caused harm, for example, he hit the car himself or lost control.

The policy covers more than 20 different adverse events. However, there are a number of situations when insurance protection does not apply, as an example:

  • the driver is not listed on the policy;
  • the driver was driving while intoxicated;
  • liquid got into the car engine;
  • there was natural wear and tear on car parts, etc.

Accident damage

The scale of accident damage depends on many factors: car speed, vehicle weight, angle of contact with an obstacle, road conditions, etc.

All emergency damage can be divided into three categories:

Severe damage

Damage that requires a complete replacement of the body.

Medium damage

In this case, the body can be saved, but most of its parts will need to be replaced.

Light/minor damage

Holes, dents, scratches caused by a collision at low speed - such damage can be easily repaired in a car service center or on your own.

Any damage - accidental or operational - must be repaired in a timely manner, even if it is a small dent or chip in the paintwork of the body. Moreover, if you do not have enough experience to carry out independent repairs, it is better not to experiment and immediately contact specialists for diagnostics and complete restoration of the body.

What cases are considered insured?

A traffic accident is one of the typical insurance events covered by comprehensive insurance. There is always at least one car involved in an accident. At the same time, he must be on the road or participate in traffic. Damage caused by another vehicle while parked is also considered a traffic accident.

What to do in case of an accident?

If an accident occurs, you need to adhere to the following action algorithm:

  1. Stop, turn on your hazard lights and put up a warning triangle. Do not move the vehicle or objects that are related to the accident.
  2. If two cars were involved in an accident, the drivers of the vehicles have compulsory motor insurance, no harm was caused to health or life, and no property other than two cars was damaged, then the accident can be registered under the European Protocol - without the traffic police.
  3. If more than two cars were involved in an accident or people were injured, then you must call the traffic police and an ambulance (if necessary).
  4. Take video or photographs of the damage to the vehicle and the scene of the accident. Try to find witnesses to the accident. The more evidence you have, the easier and faster it will be to receive compensation.
  5. Contact your insurance company. Call the hotline for free at any time. Specialists will tell you how to file an insurance claim and advise you on the procedure and timing for receiving compensation.

How to file a traffic accident?

Registration of an accident takes place according to two main scenarios:

  1. If the incident complies with the conditions for registration of the Euro Protocol, fill out a paper Notification of an Accident. This document consists of two columns: you fill out one of them, the second participant in the accident fills out the other. When recreating the picture of an accident, use standard accident diagrams and instructions from the Russian Union of Auto Insurers.
  2. In other cases, you need to call a traffic police officer to the scene of the accident or go to the nearest police department or traffic police post yourself (with the permission of the officer who answered the call). The traffic police officer will issue a document indicating the list of damaged parts of the car and property, a protocol on the accident, as well as a resolution or determination drawn up for the person who violated the traffic rules. These documents will be useful to you when applying for a refund.

If the accident happened in a parking lot

Situations often arise when the car received scratches, chips and dents while driving in a parking lot, i.e. when the driver himself damaged the car.

In the event of an accident in a parking lot, proceed as follows:

  • Try to find video footage of the incident. It is possible that surveillance cameras or video recorders of nearby cars recorded the moment the car was damaged.
  • Try to find witnesses to the accident and write down their phone numbers.
  • Contact the traffic police if your car was damaged as a result of hitting an obstacle or colliding with another car.

Traffic police officers will draw up a report with which the driver can subsequently go for insurance compensation. It is important not to miss the deadline for contacting the insurance company: 10 days are allotted for this.

List of damage in road accidents on the traffic police website

You can check your car for involvement in a traffic accident on the official website of the State Traffic Inspectorate. Reliable incident reports are published here. The region is determined automatically, but if you wish, you can change it manually and view a summary of data in any other region. So, all the damage received by the car is presented here schematically in the figures. To accurately describe the nature and type of damage to the car, they are highlighted with color indicators, with the help of which you can easily understand which part of the car was damaged and how seriously.

What do the highlighted parts of the machine in such diagrams mean and how are the resulting damages deciphered?

When and how to get a refund?

To receive compensation for damage, fill out an application and provide copies of the following documents:

  • comprehensive insurance policy (if property damage is claimed);
  • documents confirming payment of the insurance premium under the comprehensive insurance agreement;
  • STS or PTS, driver's license;
  • documents indicating damaged car parts and property;
  • resolution or ruling on an administrative violation;
  • statement about an insured event;
  • diagnostic card;
  • policyholder's passport;
  • photo and video materials from the scene of the incident;

If all documents are correct and submitted on time, the insurance company sends it for repairs to the service station specified in the contract.

Mechanism of injury in road accidents

Damage to the driver and passengers of a car can occur in various ways. This depends on the location of the person in the car, the type of accident, the speed of the vehicle, its make, and the use or lack of seat belts. What exactly causes injuries:

  • Hit. This occurs in frontal, side or tangential collisions, rollovers and collisions. Impacts are the most common cause of injury. They can cause various types of damage and affect any part of the body. In this case, contact can occur not only with car parts, but also with the road, other objects, and people in the cabin.
  • Compression. It can occur when individual components of the machine are deformed and they squeeze parts of the victim’s body. Or in the event of a person falling out of the cabin and the vehicle or its parts overturning on him. This mechanism also works when using a seat belt. But here the fault is not its malfunction, but the force with which the body is thrown forward.
  • Penetration of foreign objects into the victim’s tissue. This is often the result of an impact and damage to vehicle parts. Penetrating injuries occur from broken glass, plastic and metal components, and debris.

Types of injuries in victims of road accidents
In one accident, a person can experience impacts, compression, and invasion of tissue by foreign objects. All causes of bodily injury are interconnected, often one is a consequence of the other. For example, a foreign object can enter the body from a blow or strong compression.

In most serious accidents, people are injured in contact with the door, steering wheel, windshield, dashboard, other parts of the interior, and also due to deformation of the entire car body. For example, the feet and legs are injured when they come into contact with the pedals and the floor.

Hips, knees and pelvic bones are injured when hitting the body or dashboard. The chest and abdominal organs suffer from contact with the steering wheel, driver's or passenger seat if the person was in the back seat. The head and neck are injured by a blow to the front windshield, the dashboard, or the side windows.

What other risks are covered by comprehensive insurance?

The comprehensive insurance policy also provides insurance protection against the following risks. Among them:

  • theft (theft);
  • fire, explosion and combustion;
  • disaster;
  • damage to the car by third parties during an attempted theft or for hooligan reasons;
  • damage to the vehicle by objects thrown from under the wheels of other vehicles, or as a result of falling objects (including snow or ice from the roof).

Procedure

The procedure for dealing with these situations is similar to that for an accident. The only difference is that it is often necessary to additionally contact police officers, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other services to draw up an administrative protocol or even initiate a criminal case. You can read more about the procedure for each insurance case related to various methods of causing damage to a car here.

Casco is a reliable way to protect yourself from most financial expenses associated with damage to your car. But do not forget that any incident, even if you yourself damaged the car, must be reported to the insurance company. Follow the steps described above to receive immediate compensation under your current insurance policy.

Ligalize22 › Blog › State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.RF and damage of various types

Well, let's transgress!
I’ll start my blog at a very early stage, namely with the purchase of a car. When choosing a new car, I naturally used the traffic police website.rf to check applicants. And in many cases I have seen similar pictures, where there is simply a cross at the site of the damage, which is described in the transcript below as (damage of various types).

So, what are these various types of damage? Is it worth giving up a car with such “crosses”? Let's try to figure it out.

I had one applicant, whom I had already examined, didn’t see anything critical, and when checking the traffic police database, I saw an accident with a cross on the front of the car in 2021. After talking with an insurer I knew, he told me that it was not worth considering this junk car - it did not have a “front end”, because otherwise, there would be either yellow or red squares on the diagram. Of course, I was upset, because I really liked the car. Doubting his words, I remembered my ex, namely the 2009 Honda Civic 4D, which was more than once involved in various minor accidents. I think I’ll “punch” it and see what the traffic police writes =)

The traffic police service began operating in 2015. What happened to the car before this is not known.

March 8, 2015 - I was driving from Mom’s in the private sector and, due to a deep rut, we were unable to pass an oncoming car.

As we can see, in the diagram there is a cross on the rear bumper, but in fact the rear left fender and a little bumper are damaged. In general, not critical. The cross is not so scary =)

Then, on August 7, 2015, a guy driving around a traffic jam in the oncoming lane (mine) shuffled my left mirror and disappeared from the scene of the accident. There are no photos, there is a video, but I’m too lazy to edit it)

In the diagram we see a cross on the back right O_O How does it work I don’t know?! =) In fact, there was a small scratch on the mirror.

Next, April 21, 2021 - I just left the service. I repaired the entire suspension after the winter. I was driving contentedly, happy, when I flew on the left side into a deep hole, which was not visible because of a puddle. I became furiously angry and decided to sue the road workers. And the first step towards trial is the recording of the case by the traffic police. This is what they reflected in the diagram.

There is not even a diagram of the car, just a recording and that’s it.

Next, July 21, 2021 - the guy, leaving the parking lot (through oncoming traffic and through traffic) and at the same time adjusting the carpet, cannot look in the mirror and rams my entire left side.

And what do we see?! The traffic cop again mixed up the sides and the number of crosses =)

Next, November 07, 2021 - the girl, while reversing, did not notice my driver, who was standing right behind her, 5 meters away. I wasn’t even in the car)) I didn’t make a weak impression, my mark remained on her “ass”, but there wasn’t much damage - the bumper “springed” because it was warm from the radiator, the clips flew out, but that’s fixable)

Again, this cross is not so terrible.

Next, June 09, 2021 - I go out in the morning, go up to the car and see a note under the wipers, a fingerprint on the dirty glass of the driver's door with the text “you were hit by a BMW car license plate such and such and phone number” I call and they tell me that some guy is Bekhe tried to park nearby, but couldn’t - he came into my front bumper on the left, and then disappeared. I called the traffic police, looked at the cameras, and found him a couple of days later.

I couldn't find any photos from the accident scene. But the bottom line is that the damage was removed by simply polishing the bumper, although there is a cross in the diagram.

December 03, 2021 - in the parking lot of a shopping center, my grandfather was reversing and couldn’t see me (as it turned out later because he doesn’t look in the mirrors - he just forgets O_o) only the rear bumper and its mount on the left were damaged, they burst due to frost - paint repair .

I couldn't find any photos either. But here it’s not the crosses that are on the diagram. And it already reflects at least some clarity about the seriousness of the accident.

This is where Sivka’s adventures ended =) What conclusions can be drawn? According to unconfirmed information, the traffic police, until mid-2021, did not bother with the degree of damage to the car in an accident, but simply marked the location of the accident with a cross, which now scares the majority of those who check the car through the traffic police website. But in fact, not all crosses (until mid-2017) are so critically damaged that such cars should definitely be rejected. But this is definitely an indication of a closer place to examine the candidate.

Such things, I never took that Teanka - it turned out to be outbid, and a more interesting option turned up, which later became my Tanya
