When checking documents, law enforcement officers have the right to ask for documents confirming the disability of a disabled person - this is a certificate from the health authorities, which indicates that the driver or passenger has a degree of disability - group 1 or 2. A person with disabilities may not have his own car.
They can receive it:
- persons with disabilities of groups 1 and 2;
- parents of children with disabilities, regardless of their group;

How to check disability for a car
There is no single database for checking a car for the legality of the “Disabled” sign. Of course, there are State Services databases, MFCs, etc. but traffic police officers do not have access to them at the place where the car is stopped.
Legislatively, some changes have been made to the rules for obtaining a sign, as well as to its type. To make counterfeiting more difficult, the new sticker adds:
- place of issue and number;
- serial number of the health service department that issued it;
- expiration date and validity period of the sign, but if the disability is lifelong, then a note is made about the indefinite validity;
- personal data of the disabled person (full name, disability group);
- date of issue of the sign.
