The document is considered invalid immediately after the occurrence of these events.

What determines the size of the fine for expired licenses?

You won’t be able to completely avoid a fine for driving without a license, but you can get off with a minimum of 5,000 rubles. This is what can influence the inspector's decision.

Amount of time from the expiration date. If the driver communicates politely with the inspector and the driver’s license expired recently, a couple of days ago, he may issue a minimum amount. If a driver drives with an old license for several months or years, the fine will most likely be maximum - 15,000 rubles.

Driving history. Inspectors also look at the history of violations: how often the driver receives fines and whether he pays them. If the driver has a lot of violations or is not the first time he has been caught without a license, he will most likely be charged the largest amount.

In 2021, there is a discount on the fine for an expired driver's license. In part 1.3. Art. 32.2. it is said that fines for all violations provided for by any part of Art. 12.7. Code of Administrative Offences, can be paid with a 50% discount.

To have this opportunity, you need to make the payment within the first 20 days, which are calculated from the date of the decision. Please note that it is the adoption, and not the entry into legal force. Simply put, on the day the official issued it, the specified period begins.

To avoid financial penalties for late passport exchange, you need to stock up on evidentiary arguments to present to the authorized authorities.

If it so happens that the time to renew your passport has been missed, there is no need to wait for the documents to be verified and thereby inevitably be subject to penalties, but it is better to send a request, apologize for the lateness of the submitted materials and provide justifying arguments. Only in this case is it possible to evade punishment.

It is possible to evade collection for untimely exchange of a passport at 14, 20 or 45 years of age based on other factors set out in Art. 2.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, including when the offense is considered minor. The offender can only receive a warning.

How long does it take to issue a driver's license in Russia?
